Recap: Word of Life Christian Academy vs. Sandy Valley Sidewinders
Word of Life Christian Academy were the 49-45 winner over the Sandy Valley Sidewinders when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Word of Life Christian Academy fell 65-54 to Sandy Valley on Wednesday.
Word of Life Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Albert Viramontes, who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Ollie Davidson, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Sandy Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tage Colon out in front who scored 13 points along with seven steals and six assists. Damion Turner was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Word of Life Christian Academy now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Sandy Valley, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Word of Life Christian Academy will square off against Liberty Baptist Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sandy Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Beaver Dam at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
