Baseball Recap: Morrice Finds Home Field Redemption Against Byron

There's no place like home for Morrice, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against the Byron Eagles by a score of 12-8 on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Orioles needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Joel Fisher made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in June of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, Oliver Long was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Griffin Long, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Morrice's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Byron, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Morrice has already played their next contest (against Beecher), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Byron, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 9-1 loss against Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy on the 3rd.
