Baseball Game Preview: West Mesa Mustangs vs. Albuquerque Bulldogs

West Mesa is 2-8 against Albuquerque since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. West Mesa will head out to take on Albuquerque at 4:00 p.m. West Mesa has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between West Mesa and Eldorado, and Eldorado kept the tradition alive. West Mesa lost 16-0 to Eldorado on Saturday. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Mustangs haven't been shut out since back in February.

Meanwhile, Albuquerque didn't have quite enough to beat East Mountain on Saturday and fell 9-8. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Erick Aceves made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Maximo Granados was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Aceves wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Albuquerque kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for Albuquerque: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.8.

West Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Albuquerque, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.

West Mesa couldn't quite get it done against Albuquerque when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can West Mesa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
