Softball Recap: Centura Extends Winning Streak to Three

Centura entered their tilt with Ord on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Chanticleers. The result was nothing new for the Centurions, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Calleigh Sundberg was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Sundberg was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Centura got a massive performance out of Lauren Suntych, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Lucy Chelewski, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Centura's record now sits at 14-5. As for Ord, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-14.

Coming up, Centura will be playing in front of their home fans against Scottsbluff at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Centurions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bearcats have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Ord, they will take on O'Neill in a tournament on Saturday.
