Basketball Game Preview: Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs vs. Cashton Eagles

Melrose-Mindoro is 0-4 against Cashton since January of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs will square off against the Cashton Eagles at 7:15 p.m.

Melrose-Mindoro came up short against Osseo-Fairchild on Friday, falling 77-52. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while the Thunder are ranked 90th).

Meanwhile, Cashton can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-34 win over Wonewoc-Center. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since February 6, 2024.

Cashton's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-9. As for Melrose-Mindoro, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Melrose-Mindoro was dealt a bruising 79-38 loss at the hands of Cashton in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Melrose-Mindoro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
