Softball Recap: McDaniel Gets the Win

McDaniel's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Franklin Quakers 6-5. The victory continues a trend for the Mountain Lions in their matchups with the Quakers: they've now won three in a row.

Amira Edwards spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits.

At the plate, Anna Gladwin and Lucy Anderson did most of the damage at the plate: Gladwin went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Anderson went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Anderson a new career-high.

The win got McDaniel back to even at 8-8. As for Franklin, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-8-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McDaniel will challenge Roosevelt at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mountain Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Roughriders have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Franklin, they will take on Cleveland at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
