Softball Recap: Pinnacle Takes Down Ranked Perry

Pinnacle faced Perry in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Pioneers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Pumas. The victory continues a trend for the Pioneers in their matchups with the Pumas: they've now won three in a row.

Lilly Hamel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned runs on 13 hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Pinnacle got a massive performance out of Sienna Caro, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Bri Smith, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pinnacle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 15 consecutive contests.

Pinnacle's record now sits at 18-8-1. As for Perry, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 19-10.

As of now, neither Pinnacle nor the Pumas have any future games scheduled.
