Basketball Recap: Pateros Comes Up Short

Pateros suffered their biggest defeat since December 20, 2024 on Saturday. They were outmatched by the Neah Bay Red Devils and fell 66-31. While losing is never fun, the Billygoats/Nannies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Red Devils are ranked 39th).

Neah Bay's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Angel Halttunen, who went 7-for-14 on her way to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Halttunen a new career-high in points. Cerise Moss was another key player, putting up 20 points.

Pateros dropped their record down to 19-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Neah Bay, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 21-1.

Pateros wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-47 victory against Lummi on the 5th. As for Neah Bay, they will square off against Oakesdale at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Neah Bay's defense has only allowed 28.7 points per game this season, so Oakesdale's offense will have their work cut out for them.
