Baseball Recap: Abbott RVT Wins Going Away Against Bullard-Havens

Abbott RVT won the last time they faced Bullard-Havens and things went their way on Monday too. The Wolverines blew past the Tigers 10-3. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Mason Berna made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tyler Waterbury was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Logan Caruso was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Abbott RVT kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 8.8.

The victory made it two in a row for Abbott RVT and bumps their season record up to 9-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Bullard-Havens, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Abbott RVT will challenge Wilcox RVT at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bullard-Havens, they will face off against Kaynor RVT at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
