Basketball Recap: South Decatur Falls Despite Big Games from Drake Scaggs and Karson Templeton

South Decatur was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a hard 77-62 fall against the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles. Even though they lost, the Cougars' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.4 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Despite the loss, South Decatur had strong showings from Karson Templeton, who went 6 of 11 en route to 24 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Drake Scaggs, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Scaggs continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Ballard, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, South Decatur smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

South Decatur's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Jac-Cen-Del, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

South Decatur didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-37 loss against South Ripley on the 21st. As for Jac-Cen-Del, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-57 defeat against Southwestern on the 20th.
