Baseball Game Preview: Somerset Academy Panthers vs. Dwyer Panthers

We've got a battle between Panthers coming up. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Somerset Academy has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Dwyer will arrive with three straight wins.

Somerset Academy saw some tournament action on Monday. They fell 4-1 to Calvary Christian Academy. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly three runs.

Somerset Academy got a good showing from Julio Cardoso, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, Cardoso gave up only three walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Jon Mora was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Meanwhile, Dwyer earned an 11-6 victory over Royal Palm Beach on Friday.

Ryan Legienza looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Miguel Marrero, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Max Abrams also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Dwyer now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Somerset Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-10.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Somerset Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Dwyer struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
