Marionville won the last time they faced Southwest and things went their way on Monday too. The Comets put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 18-6 win. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Brooklyn Holder made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Maggie Murphy was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, five runs, and three RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anna Bright, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.
Marionville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .389 or higher in three consecutive games.
Marionville now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Southwest, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.
Coming up, Marionville will face off against Forsyth at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southwest, they will challenge Mt. Vernon at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
