Basketball Recap: Granger Triumphs

Granger hadn't done well against Taylorsville recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Granger Lancers pulled ahead with a 53-52 photo finish over the Taylorsville Warriors. This was a revenge game for the Lancers: when they faced off against the Warriors back in January, they had to take a 63-49 defeat.

Granger's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Benson Turcsanski led the charge by going 6 for 11 on his way to 18 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Turcsanski a new career-high in steals. Mason Biddulph was another key player, going 5 of 9 en route to 16 points and seven rebounds.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kobe Allen, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. That was a full 36.5% of Taylorsville's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Johnson, who put up 12 points and three steals.

The victory made it two in a row for Granger and bumps their season record up to 3-13. As for Taylorsville, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-13.

Granger wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-43 defeat against Kearns on the 31st. As for Taylorsville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 77-58 loss against Cyprus on the 31st.
