Softball Recap: West Shamokin Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

West Shamokin extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 8-2 in the process. They came out on top against the Purchase Line Red Dragons by a score of 6-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-4 on April 1st.

Leah Mondi was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cameron Vandervort, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Purchase Line, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-2. The contest marked their lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

On Purchase Line's side, Rylee Mahaffey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Purchase Line saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylee Adams, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
