Basketball Recap: Marely Gomez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fort Lupton over Basalt

On Tuesday, the Fort Lupton Bluedevils came up short against the Basalt Longhorns and fell 36-27. While the Bluedevils didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Longhorns 13-2 in the first quarter.

Several Bluedevils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marely Gomez, who posted 16 points. Gomez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 17 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kianna Lenox, who had three points in addition to seven blocks and six boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Fort Lupton and nudges their season record down to 13-9. As for Basalt, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-19.

Fort Lupton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Basalt, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Steamboat Springs at 5:30 p.m.
