Basketball Recap: East Lincoln Now 10-2 over Last 12 Games

There's no place like home for East Lincoln, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 77-64 victory over the Statesville Greyhounds on Tuesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 99-74 on January 3rd.

East Lincoln's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jackson Fannon led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. Gaige Ikard was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine assists.

East Lincoln was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Statesville only racked up 21 assists.

Statesville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kevin Bryant, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Paul Cauthen, who posted eight points along with six assists and five boards.

East Lincoln is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.8 points per game. As for Statesville, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-8.

East Lincoln and Statesville should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. East Lincoln will square off against West Iredell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday up 215 places (131 vs. 346). Similarly, Statesville (ranked 163rd) will meet Foard (ranked 592nd) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
