Baseball Recap: El Camino Real Triumphs

While El Camino Real put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Taft. The Royals came out on top against the Toreadors by a score of 5-0. The victory continues a trend for the Royals in their matchups with the Toreadors: they've now won three in a row.

Devin Gonor tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, El Camino Real let Julius Haim and Troy Shaw run wild. Haim went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Shaw went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave Shaw a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adan Viner, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

El Camino Real's record is now 16-8. As for Taft, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-20.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Camino Real will face off against Chatsworth at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Royals 2.9, the Chancellors 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Taft, they will challenge Cleveland at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cavaliers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Toreadors surely won't give up without a fight.
