Basketball Recap: Covenant Day Takes a Loss

If Covenant Day was riding high fresh off their 56-26 takedown of Charlotte Christian last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Covenant Day Lions lost to the Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers at home by a 58-41 margin on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buccaneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-43 back in January.

Charlotte Country Day School was led to victory by Sam Vanderhave and Olive Bigham. Vanderhave posted 17 points and six boards, while Bigham went 7-for-12 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Vanderhave a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Cj Starnes, who had two points and 15 rebounds.

Covenant Day has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 15-12 record this season. As for Charlotte Country Day School, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 19-10.

Covenant Day has already played their next game, a 48-37 defeat against Ravenscroft on the 11th. As for Charlotte Country Day School, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 59-33 victory against Durham Academy on the 11th.
