Basketball Game Preview: Covington Academy Bulldogs vs. Holy Ground Baptist Academy Stallions

The Covington Academy Bulldogs will venture away from home to take on the Holy Ground Baptist Academy Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Covington Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season.

Covington Academy proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 30) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Providence Classical Christian, sneaking past 44-41.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Covington Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brenton Smith, who posted 15 points and four steals. That's the most points Smith has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cayden Williams, who scored 15 points and three steals.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Holy Ground Baptist Academy and Central Christian had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The contest between the Stallions and the Crusaders didn't end well, with the Stallions falling 66-49. Stallions fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Crusaders since Friday.

Covington Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Holy Ground Baptist Academy, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Everything came up roses for Covington Academy against Holy Ground Baptist Academy when the teams last played last Friday, as the team secured a 55-25 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
