Basketball Recap: Depew Comes Up Short

Depew was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 27-24 heartbreaker at the hands of the Coyle Bluejackets. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Hornets have suffered since January 6, 2024.

Among those leading the charge was Arianna Vasquez, who posted seven points and 12 steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 29 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlee Demoss, who scored four points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Depew's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Coyle, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.

Depew has already played their next match, a 49-23 defeat against Prue on the 23rd. As for Coyle, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-31 loss against Wellston on the 21st.
