Softball Game Preview: Golden Gate Titans vs. Gulf Coast Sharks

Golden Gate hasn't had much luck against Gulf Coast recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Golden Gate Titans will look to defend their home field against the Gulf Coast Sharks at 7:00 p.m. Golden Gate has given up an average of 18 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Golden Gate is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They lost 15-0 to Palmetto Ridge.

Meanwhile, Gulf Coast put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Naples by a score of 8-4. While the Sharks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Taylor Stalling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emma Caetano, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kadi Hodgson, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Gulf Coast's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Golden Gate, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
