Softball Recap: Pittsfield Starts Season with Victory Against Franklin

Pittsfield took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Franklin Tornadoes 2-1. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Tornadoes recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Alex Penney was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Penney was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Pittsfield is set to take on their familiar foe Farmington at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Franklin will face off against rival Mascenic Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
