Basketball Recap: Barrie Drops Season-High Score on Commonwealth Academy

Barrie's game back in November was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Commonwealth Academy with a sharp 42-18 win. Barrie's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Gunnar Nelson was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. What's more, he posted two assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hezekiah Saunders, who put up nine points along with seven boards and three steals.

Barrie was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Barrie's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Barrie will take on Varsity Opponent at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Commonwealth Academy, after both having extra time off, they and Yeshiva will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:30 p.m. on January 27, 2026.
