Recap: River Valley Falcons vs. Rio Linda Knights
The River Valley Falcons had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 71-60 win over Rio Linda on Saturday. The win was just what River Valley needed coming off of a 82-60 loss in their prior match.
River Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gurtaran Sanghu, who scored 14 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Munneth Gill, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Rio Linda's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rodney Shead , who scored 20 points. Shead scored a full 33.3% of Rio Linda's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Naim Kelley-Bryant, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Rio Linda were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River Valley only racked up 21.
River Valley's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Rio Linda, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
River Valley will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Chico at 6:30 p.m. on December 7th. As for Rio Linda, they will be playing at home against Roseville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Roseville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rio Linda in California (Roseville is ranked 111th, while Rio Linda is ranked 693rd).
