Lone Peak is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Westlake, who was ranked ninth at the time (Lone Peak was ranked 16th). Lone Peak took a 45-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Westlake. While the Knights didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Thunder 12-8 in the first quarter.
Kennedy Woolston put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted ten points along with seven boards and six assists. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Tatiana Harness was another key player, putting up ten points.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Riverton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 44-29 victory over Herriman on Thursday.
Riverton's win came from a few key players Lone Peak will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Faythe Stauffer, who had 13 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards she has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Lange, who put up eight points and six rebounds.
Riverton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.
Lone Peak's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points over those games. As for Riverton, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Lone Peak has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Riverton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Lone Peak strolled past Riverton in their previous matchup back in December of 2019 by a score of 61-46. Does Lone Peak have another victory up their sleeve, or will Riverton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
