Volleyball Recap: Giltner Hornets vs. Red Cloud Warriors
Giltner was the 2-0 winner over Red Cloud when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Hornets took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors on Tuesday.
Giltner was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-12.
Peyton Schutt paced Giltner's offense, picking up seven kills. Schutt got some help from Avery Reeson and her 13 assists. Finally, Kailyn Wilson kept Giltner's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.
Red Cloud found their leader in freshman Haize Heldt, who had 17 digs and one assist. Heldt is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games she's played.
Giltner now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Red Cloud, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-7.
Coincidentally, Giltner and Red Cloud will both be playing Kenesaw the next time they take the court. The Warriors will head out to face the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Hornets will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
