Baseball Recap: Churchill Comes Up Short

Churchill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Summit Storm. The Lancers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Storm apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2017.

Donovan Jackson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.

At the plate, Churchill saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Mikel, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Churchill now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Summit, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Churchill will take on Thurston at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Lancers' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Summit, they will welcome West Albany at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Storm's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Bulldogs have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
