Basketball Recap: Waverly Central Tigers vs. Perry County Vikings

The Waverly Central Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Perry County. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Waverly Central in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost four in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Perry County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jake Mercer, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Landon Warren, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.

Waverly Central dropped their record down to 1-17 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home. As for Perry County, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.

Waverly Central will head out on the road to take on the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Perry County, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Averaging 63.18 points so far this season, Wayne County's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Vikings better be ready for a challenge.
