Softball Recap: Westminster Academy Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

Westminster Academy had won three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they bumped their record up to 13-11 to make it four. They came out on top against the Cooper City Cowboys by a score of 11-6. That's more bragging rights for the Lions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Macie Foster and Dianna Montidoro did most of the damage at the plate: Foster went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Montidoro got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Foster has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Savanna Lee, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Westminster Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matches.

As for Cooper City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

On Cooper City's side, Rylee Hedden was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Aileen Laffita was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Westminster Academy has already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Pembroke Pines Charter on the 23rd. As for Cooper City, they will challenge Fort Lauderdale at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Flying L's have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
