Football Recap: Rye Takes a Loss

Despite a strong season so far, Rye has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were outmatched by the Colorado Springs Christian Lions and fell 27-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Thunderbolts were not able to get on the board.

Brady Baumgartner threw for 36 yards on four of 16 attempts. On the ground, Jackson Bjorum rushed for 108 yards.

Colorado Springs Christian's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Silas Lambert, who rushed for 63 yards, and also caught one touchdown. Lambert showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 63 yards. Another player making a difference was Micah Akpata, who rushed for 72 yards and one score.

Rye's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Colorado Springs Christian, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Rye does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Colorado Springs Christian, they will square off against Buena Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Demons have now posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups.
