After a string of eight wins, Lamar's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Vail Christian Saints by a score of 3-2. The Thunder were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Saints apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Several Thunder players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tatym McTaggart, who had four digs and four aces. McTaggart has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last seven times she's played.

Sam Bates was a one-woman wrecking crew For Vail Christian. as she had 15 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Bates has posted over her last six matches. Michelle Teague also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Lamar's loss dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Vail Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.

Lamar wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Fowler on the 4th. As for Vail Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Denver Christian on the 4th.
