Basketball Recap: Hagerty Extends Winning Streak to Five

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Hagerty ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-46 victory over the Eau Gallie Commodores. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Commodores are ranked 578th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Asa Kohn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 11 for 18 en route to 26 points. His evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Isaac Lopez, who posted seven points and five boards.

Despite the loss, Eau Gallie still got an impressive performance from Quentin Hardin, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 17 points and five assists. That was a full 37% of Eau Gallie's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Cuff, who earned ten points.

The win (which was Hagerty's fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-10. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Eau Gallie, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-16.

Hagerty has already played their next match, a 70-66 victory against Orlando Christian Prep on the 25th. As for Eau Gallie, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 77-33 loss against St. Cloud on the 28th.
