Football Recap: Desert Vista Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Desert Vista had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-5 to make it nine. They were dealt a 55-21 defeat at the hands of the Casteel Colts. While losing is never fun, the Thunder can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Colts are ranked 19th).

When it comes to explaining why Desert Vista lost, don't look at Kyler Drunasky. Despite the final result, he rushed for 177 yards and two TDs on only 14 carries. With that strong performance, Drunasky is now averaging an impressive 106 rushing yards per game. Henry Williams got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

As for Casteel, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.5 points over those games.

Tee Smith had a dynamite game, throwing for 334 yards and five touchdowns while completing 84% of his passes, and also rushing for 113 yards and three scores on only 13 carries. Brody Smith was Tee's top target, picking up 116 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
