Baseball Recap: Robertsdale Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Robertsdale ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Charles Henderson Trojans, sneaking past 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Golden Bears have posted since February 28th.

Hayden Phillips made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Robertsdale's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 3-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't). Phillips was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Robertsdale let Logan Gregson and Gavin Grider run wild. Gregson scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2, while Grider scored a run while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave Grider a new career-high in RBI (two).

The win made it two in a row for Robertsdale and bumps their season record up to 8-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Charles Henderson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10-1.

Looking ahead, Robertsdale will challenge Gulf Shores at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Charles Henderson, they will square off against Brantley at 4:30 p.m. on March 24th.
