Baseball Game Preview: Minnewaska Area Lakers vs. West Central Area Knights

The Minnewaska Area Lakers will head out on the road to take on the West Central Area Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Central Area took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Minnewaska Area, who comes in off a win.

While Minnewaska Area's victory against Sauk Centre wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lakers skirted past the Mainstreeters 3-2. The Lakers haven't had any issues with the Mainstreeters recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, West Central Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta, falling 16-0.

Minnewaska Area pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for West Central Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Minnewaska Area took their victory against West Central Area when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 19-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lakers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
