Zack Putnam was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
Putnam wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brooks Bower, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, Tuscarawas Central Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 32nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 14-6 to Jefferson County Christian.
Dylan Dumermuth and Holden Civiello did some serious damage despite the final result: Dumermuth went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Civiello went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathen Wright, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Conotton Valley's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Tuscarawas Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.
Tuscarawas Central Catholic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Conotton Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .478. It's a different story for Tuscarawas Central Catholic, though, as they've only averaged .318. Will they be able to contain Conotton Valley's hitters?
