Softball Recap: Larue County Find Success

After losing to Barren County the last time they met, Larue County decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Hawks won by a run and slipped past the Trojans 2-1.

Heidi Tipton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Larue County's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Laura Austin, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Larue County's win bumped their record up to 21-4. As for Barren County, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6.

Larue County and Barren County should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. The Hawks will challenge Hart County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (22 vs. 138). Meanwhile, Barren County (ranked 31st) will meet Russellville (ranked 123rd) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
