Baseball Recap: Elkins Sets Scoring Season-High Against Notre Dame

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elkins). They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Brayden Biller made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other batting news, Elkins got a massive performance out of Trent Stone, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Stone a new career-high. Braden Cooper was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and three RBI.

Elkins was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Elkins' win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-17. As for Notre Dame, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.

Elkins wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 12-1 loss against Buckhannon-Upshur on the 5th. As for Notre Dame, they have also already played their next match, a 7-6 victory against Braxton County on the 7th.
