Preview: West Johnston Wildcats vs. Hunt Warriors
West Johnston is 0-2 against Hunt since October of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The West Johnston Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hunt Warriors at 7:00 p.m.
Last Friday, West Johnston came up short against C.B. Aycock and fell 20-7.
Meanwhile, Hunt had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They strolled past South Johnston with points to spare, taking the game 34-19.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hunt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaiden Terrell, who rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Terrell is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ny'gir Alston, who picked up 74 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Hunt's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. Leading the way was Khalyb Robinson and his two sacks.
Hunt's victory bumped their season record to 7-1 while West Johnston's loss dropped theirs to 5-3.
West Johnston came up short against Hunt in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 15-8. Thankfully for West Johnston, Jahvonne Williams (who rushed for 112 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
