Fans got a thrill when Anthony Johnson and Timothy Falvey connected against Branford. The longest such play in Southern Connecticut Division I - West this season, the connection resulted in 72 yards.
Shelton added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Foran, 35-13. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Fairfield Prep's dynamic duo of Colton Smith and Falvey proved to be unstoppable against the Hornets, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Smith threw for 100 yards and 1 touchdown and Falvey had 121 yards receiving. John DelliSanti helped Fairfield Prep's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 26 yards.
Mark Piccirillo was a passing and rushing force as Shelton topped the Lions. He completed 9 passes for 86 yards and also ran for 123 yards. Piccirillo's favorite target this week was Jason Thompson, who caught 5 passes for 46 yards.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Benjamin Feola. The Amity Regional star has 10 catches for 220 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between the Jesuits and Jeff Roy's team. Fairfield Prep comes into the matchup ranked 20th in the state, while the Gaels ranks sixth.
Next week's game between Shelton and Tom Shea's team will feature a good passing match up as Piccirillo will test his arm against Stephen Walsh's defensive ability. For the year, the Gaels' Piccirillo has managed 558 yards and 7 touchdowns, while Walsh has 3 interceptions for the Jesuits.
There should be lots of points scored when Fairfield Prep and Shelton face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Jesuits comes in having scored 143 this season, while the Gaels have scored 184. Fairfield Prep scored 32 points last week as it defeated Branford.
Hamden took down Law 42-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Maliek Williamson ran for 170 yards in the win.
