The Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack will take on the East Union Lancers at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Cosumnes Oaks is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
Things were looking good for Cosumnes Oaks after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pleasant Grove.
Amyah Avila spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Cosumnes Oaks saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Fleishman, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, East Union came into Tuesday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Patterson with a sharp 9-2 victory on Tuesday. The Lancers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 29-1).
East Union also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Mikayla Simpson gave up just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caliyah Lopez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Savanna Lopez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
East Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
East Union's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Cosumnes Oaks, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
Cosumnes Oaks was able to grind out a solid victory over East Union in their previous meeting back in February of 2018, winning 18-13. Do the Wolfpack have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
