Football Recap: Shepherd Mustangs vs. Whitehall/Harrison/Willow Creek
The third road game was the charm for Shepherd, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They put the hurt on Whitehall/Harrison/Willow Creek with a sharp 30-7 win on Friday.
Shepherd found their leader in sophomore Caleb Nicholson, who threw for 260 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 81 yards on only 11 carries. The Mustangs' leading receiver Tagg Murdock was Nicholson's top target yet again, picking up 118 receiving yards and one score.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Shepherd's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Owen Schlotter got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Shepherd picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Whitehall/Harrison/Willow Creek, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shepherd will welcome Colstrip at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
