Basketball Recap: Ej Hazelett's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Franklin Central over Greenfield-Central

Franklin Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the Greenfield-Central Cougars. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (56), the Flashes still had to take the loss.

Franklin Central's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ej Hazelett, who went 7-for-10 to rack up 19 points. Hazelett's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Alfonzo Graves, who went 5-for-6 on his way to 15 points.

Greenfield-Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braylon Mullins led the charge by going 10-for-17 en route to 30 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Boston Willard was another key player, going 5-for-8 to rack up 15 points in addition to six assists and four steals.

Franklin Central's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Greenfield-Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season.

Franklin Central has already played their next contest, a 68-43 defeat against Avon on the 14th. As for Greenfield-Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-70 loss against Lawrence Central on the 14th.
