Preview: South Dearborn Knights vs. Franklin County Wildcats

After two games on the road, South Dearborn is heading back home. They will take on The Franklin County Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

South Dearborn might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was Lawrenceburg who claimed the real prize. South Dearborn ended up on the wrong side of a tough 42-21 walloping at the hands of Lawrenceburg. South Dearborn was down 35-14 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite their defeat, South Dearborn saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Hudson Shackelford, who picked up 110 receiving yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Paul Kunkel, who threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Franklin County missed an extra point against Beech Grove on Friday and it came back to haunt them. Franklin County and Beech Grove were almost perfectly matched up, but Franklin County suffered an agonizing 28-27 loss. Franklin County's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Despite the loss, Franklin County saw an underclassman step up: Carter Dozier rushed for 12 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 71 receiving yards.

South Dearborn's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. Franklin County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Everything came up roses for South Dearborn against Franklin County when the teams last played back in September as the squad secured a 38-6 victory. Does South Dearborn have another victory up their sleeve, or will Franklin County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
