Pocahontas County had lost 20 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-14-1 to make it 21. They came up short against the Bath County Chargers, falling 17-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Warriors have suffered against the Chargers since March 21, 2017.
Warren Burns was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. RT Hill was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
As for Bath County, their record now sits at 5-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win they have posted against Pocahontas County since March 27, 2019.
On Bath County's side, I Ingram made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Ingram also tossed no walks, which is notable because Bath County is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-9 otherwise. Ingram was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, C Lowry was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of O Perdue, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Pocahontas County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bath County, they will challenge Narrows at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Green Waves will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Chargers surely won't give up without a fight.
