Baseball Game Preview: Ridgevue Warhawks vs. Centennial Patriots

The Ridgevue Warhawks will face off against the Centennial Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Ridgevue will be strutting in after a victory while Centennial will be coming in after a loss.

Ridgevue not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 13-3). They blew past Capital 12-4. The win continues a trend for the Warhawks in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Jameson Deitz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Preston Wade looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Ridgevue got a massive performance out of Chance Schreiber, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Wonderlich, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Ridgevue always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Centennial faced Owyhee in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Patriots fell just short of the Storm by a score of 8-6. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Storm recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Ridgevue's victory bumped their record up to 9-7-1. As for Centennial, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-5.
