Baseball Game Preview: Yucca Valley Trojans vs. Indio Rajahs

Yucca Valley is 2-8 against Indio since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Trojans will head out to challenge the Rajahs at 6:00 p.m. This will be Yucca Valley's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.

Yucca Valley's last matchup with Palm Springs could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup two weeks ago. The Trojans came up short against the Indians, falling 7-0. The defeat leaves the Trojans still looking for their first win of the season.

Meanwhile, Indio had just enough and edged out Coachella Valley 5-4 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rajahs.

Zackary Muniz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julian Mandujano, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jose Rodriguez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Indio hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coachella Valley struck out eight times.

Yucca Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Indio, their record now sits at 8-11.
