Baseball Recap: North Putnam Takes a Loss

If North Putnam was feeling good fresh off their 12-5 takedown of Monrovia on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars fell 14-11 to the Covington Trojans on Saturday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Brayden Chew and Griffen Starr did some serious damage despite the final result: Chew scored four runs and stole five bases while going 4-for-5, while Starr scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Starr also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Sam Wendt was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

North Putnam's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Covington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Trojans beat North Putnam by a score of 8-2 later that day.
