Volleyball Recap: Buckeye Local Panthers vs. Shadyside Tigers
Buckeye Local was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against the Shadyside Tigers, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on September 6th.
Buckeye Local couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Shadyside a tough time in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-16, 30-28.
Buckeye Local's offense was headlined by Brooke Kovalski and Jenna DelVecchio, who picked up nine kills apiece. They got some help from Karlie Lander and her 18 assists. DelVecchio was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shadyside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ali Weatherson, who had 32 assists and eight digs. Weatherson is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 14 every time she's taken the court this season. Aubrey Nippert was another key player, getting 12 kills and 11 digs.
Buckeye Local's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Shadyside, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-11.
Coming up, Buckeye Local will be playing at home against Bridgeport at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shadyside, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Frontier on the 1st.
