Baseball Game Preview: Northwood Academy Chargers vs. Trinity Collegiate Titans

Northwood Academy is 0-3 against Trinity Collegiate since March of 2022 but things could change on Saturday. The Chargers will look to defend their home field against the Titans at 2:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Northwood Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Dorchester Academy on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 8-7.

Jhett Dungan was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Dungan was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Dungan wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Cumbee, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. Travis Mercuri also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Trinity Collegiate unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 10-6 to Pinewood Prep last Thursday.

Northwood Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10-1. As for Trinity Collegiate, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
